All About Maxi

It is finally warming up in LA and all I can think about is maxi season. I own a handful of clothes but nothing makes me happier than adding full-length dresses and skirts. Knits n Satin

January is coming to an end, but I'm still letting the new year sink in. Who else is needing another vacay? I am desperately looking for reasons to get out of my constant work, sleep and repeat. Next month I'll be heading back to the bay to catch my sister's baby shower. Out of the many occasion I've been there, this is definitely the most anticipated. Nothing excites me more than seeing another Lam girl born into the world! Plus, I'm going to be an auntie for the first time.

We stumbled upon a small desert surrounded by rocks. The sun was almost setting and we jumped on the perfect moment to shoot. I wore my choker dress made from a shimmering satin and decided to dress it down with a knit sweater and a pair of casual sneakers.

I absolutely love mixing two different fabrics in an outfit. I'm all about adding contrast texture to make your look more interesting, even with the same colors. For example, green on green: a suede top combined with a pair of denim would deliver better than a fleece top and bottom. Another combo I love is denim and leather. Wear a leather skirt, cotton tee and throw over a denim jacket. Bingo. Super rad. What are your favorite outfit combos?

Rose on Robe

Since the start of a new year, I've been setting small, measurable goals every week. While managing my own blog and social media content, I'm also helping a denim brand refocus their vision.

Having been my second week at my new job, I am already handling most of the marketing and promotions on the team. I enjoy carrying more responsibilities especially in areas that I'm good at! While I love learning new skills, I get way more excited about activities that I'm already familiar with and have plenty of ideas for. We have our seasonal lookbook shoots this week and next week. I'll be in charge of styling the shoot as well as the model's hair and makeup. This is a huge opportunity and one of the perks of working in a smaller brand. Not to mention, I also plan exclusive influencer events and represent public relations for the company.

Aside from work, I'm over-the-top excited to share this olive two-piece set and satin robe! Oh yes, you heard me right. I am now obsessed with wearing a robe outdoors! Just kidding, I haven't gotten that lazy yet. But I have been excited about this satin striped piece especially how it comes with a rose embroidery at the back. Going for a retro vibe with extra robe flow, I love wearing my red velvet booties to compliment the blue and olive green colors. I can't remember when this army-inspired green became so popular. I'm seeing this shade fade away this year and more so the blush and deeper reds are coming through. What colors do you see trending?

Blush

I love a cozy winter look that mixes faux fur and velvet for formal occasions. Crafted with a soft plushy fabric, this long-sleeve midi dress features a mock neck and a thigh-grazing front slit. It easily slips on with no zipper closure and creates an elegant silhouette. To match the pretty blush tone, I pull the look together with a shaggy vest and a pair of velvet perspex boots.

Speaking of special occasions, Oscar nominations are in! Well, almost. ABC is announcing the nominees tomorrow morning around 8AM Pacific Time. With the controversy of casting and awarding mainly white actors, the public blew up last year and started the trending hashtag #OscarSoWhite. Do you think things will be different this year? Regardless of the nominations, I hope that more minority actors, especially Asians, can take on more main roles and escape being typecast.
