4 Latest Fashion Trends in LA

Let's face it. For those of us who live in SoCal, we have it pretty good. By good I mean we have the "perfect" weather and experience multiple summers in a year (yup, I declare myself spoiled!). When it comes to styling, our closets are never complicated, given that we only store summer outfits and light jackets! Just kidding. But you get the point. It's hot here and we don't wear too many layers.

One thing I love about LA is the reputation for casual streetwear. Speaking from a millennial's perspective, making everyday fashion less basic and more creative is a skill necessary to fashionistas here. Whether it's finding a new print we crave or bringing back an older style, these are some of the latest fashion trends I discovered in LA.

Trend #1: Palm-print fashion

(ie. workout sets, yoga leggings, bikinis, swimwear)

Look Smarter, Instantly

Growing up with horrible, I mean, horrible eye sight, I dreaded wearing glasses. They're uncomfortable and I spend half my day pushing them up from my nose bridge. Plus, getting made fun of at school for being "four-eyes" puts the cherry on top. But ugh, seriously? The day my mom got me contacts, I (almost) never wore glasses in public again.

Fast forward to 2017, glasses became a fashion trend and they are more than a necessity for your eyes. Embracing all the fun shapes and sizes created for eyewear, I enjoy fashionable glasses way more and love adding it as a final touch to my look. AND - one way to look smarter? Wear glasses!😎 Bringing me to the main focus of today's post.... introducing 2 favorite pairs that make you look smarter, instantly:

The Scientist Look
Oversized frames that not only make your face smaller but your eyes bigger - now that's magic right there. You could literally pull off any look with these. They're sassy, bossy and definitely smart-assy. I'd do anything to replace these with my actual frames. Step up these oversized babies with a sleeveless top and a pair of dark-wash denim for a sophisticated vibe. Shop: http://rstyle.me/~a496r

The Retro Look
MVMT, a fast-growing lifestyle brand, released a collection featuring stylish glasses that went along with their watches. Thanks to MVMT, I got myself a pair of the Icon Clear glasses and the Sunset watch.

Love vintage vibes and I absolutely adore the retro round shape of Icon Clear. The slim frame makes the glasses look extra sleek. The Sunset watch is created with a rose-gold strap and an iridescent crystal case. These retro frames were styled with a maxi dress and an asymmetrical blouse. Dress up or down with these glasses and you still look super smart wherever you go! Shop: http://rstyle.me/~a49aL

4 Trendy Summer Outfit Ideas

Having lived on the east coast for over ten years, I only knew summers that were often hot and humid. Everything's changed when I moved to California. I discovered that the climate here is dry and summers come with heat waves and cooler temps in the morning and night. Truly the desert life - you could imagine me gluing to my water bottle 24/7! Aside from staying hydrated as my number 1 goal, I also prepared a few outfit ideas that fit into the trends this year.

The Easy Maxi
The maxi trend is a constant favorite with a comfortable fit and a lengthy silhouette. Easy to style with a flattering bodysuit or a fitted top to accentuate your figure. Add height to your look with a pair of embroidered boots and finish with minimal designed jewelry for an extra sparkle.

Metallic and Flares
Metallic and holographic pieces are a trend that continues to stand out. The 70s are one of my favorite decades with its funky and unique style. Flare pants and shimmery tops are an essential to the disco period. This metallic biker jacket is truly a statement piece to the look!

Stripes and Denim
Stripes are a huge trend this year. I've seen this pattern in every category and especially on blouses and dresses. Pairing a medium-wash denim over a striped piece gives a casual summer vibe with a pretty blue color. Adding circle sunnies to the mix allows the look to be more fun!

Smooth like Satin
One of my favorite ways to elevate a look is to add a satin piece to it. The smooth and glossy details instantly class up any outfit. I love a satin blouse paired with simple black pants and pom-pom sneakers. The fabric is soft enough to wear all day and also flattering due to its luxurious appeal.

TOBI: 3 Summer Essentials

With the temperature on the rise, I am excited to introduce summer pieces that are inspired by the California flair. Thanks to TOBI, these three fabulous essentials are my absolute go-to.

Now that summer is approaching, I am so excited to finally let go of long pants and leggings. With the humid, sticky weather everywhere, denim shorts are a must when it comes to fighting off the heat! Washed to a medium indigo shade, this pair of high-waist shorts are perfect to style for everyday and casual occasions. Detailed with a rolled hem, these denim shorts are finished with a five-pocket construction and zip fly.

Bringing both West Coast style and a laid-back attitude, I adore this simple shift dress that offers a cami design and a trendy hi-lo hem. Crafted with this year's "it" color, this chiffon piece features a mocha shade that is easy to style with other neutral colors. Complement it with a light leather jacket and a pair of embroidered booties!

With the ongoing 90s trend this year, one-piece bathing suits inspired by shows like Baywatch are emerging in fashion brands everywhere. While I do love a two-piece bikini set, I enjoy sitting and lounging in a one-piece that offers more coverage! This specific monokini features fun lace-up details at the side and a sexy scoop back and reaches down the lower back. If you ask me, this is definitely an essential piece I would recommend packing for your summer getaway!
